Paul W. Stoops, age 68, of Bradley passed away Monday, November 13, 2023, at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee. He was born March 4, 1955, in Kankakee, the son of Wesley & Zena (Osborne) Stoops. Paul married his childhood sweetheart, Jody Scering, on June 9, 1974, at Westbrook Church of the Nazarene in Kankakee.
Paul loved being a bus driver for BBCHS and ONU sports teams. His bus kids called him Grahams. Paul had been involved in church since he was a child on various platforms. He loved his bible and his family. Paul enjoyed Christian music and worship. He had a special love for his granddaughter and was always helping others. He knew no strangers.
Surviving are his wife of almost 50 years, Jody Stoops of Bradley; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Joshua Paul Stoops of Bradley and Daniel & Gloria Stoops of Chebanse; one granddaughter, Izzabelle Stoops; one sister and brother-in-law, Rosie & Fred Furston of Peoria; one brother and sister-in-law, Jonathan & Colleen Stoops of Aledo; and his extended family. Paul was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Nathan Stoops.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the Noon memorial service on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. Pastor K.A. Abraham will officiate the service.
