Walter Eugene Jackson, long time Pryor resident, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023 at home surrounded by his family. He was born March 12, 1944 to Walter Eugene Caves and Maudie Louise Hendrix in Chickasha, Oklahoma. He married Karen Ann Coursey on October 11, 1962 in Carson City, Nevada.

After graduation from high school, Walter entered the United States Navy where he served as a Missile Fire Control Technician during the Viet Nam War. He worked for Grand River Dam Authority for many years as a Safety Director until his retirement. He was a member of Your Place Church in Pryor.

Walter loved hunting and was also an avid ammunition reloader. He was also known for his storytelling ability. For Walter, family was his number one priority and he loved spending as much time with them as possible. He was known for being a jokester and kept everyone on their toes. In the later years, Walter enjoyed watching Gunsmoke re-runs on television.

Walter is survived by his wife, Karen Jackson, of the home; son, Damon Jackson (Joyce) of Carson City, Nevada; son, Eric Jackson (Peg) of Winnemucca, Nevada; daughter, Valerie Albert (Gene) of Pryor, Oklahoma; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Kathryn Jane Jones of Lindsay, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Donna Anderson and Mary Rice; brother, Houston Perkins; baby sister Mary Ann Perkins; grandchildren, Walter A. Jackson and Walker E. Jackson; and great-grandson, Bennett Taylor.
