Vers la fin des années 1890, ils se dirigent vers la région du Lac-Mégantic.
Caroline décède le 18 janvier 1903 et est inhumée dans le cimetière de la paroisse Sainte-Agnès au Lac-Mégantic, à l'âge de 42 ans.
