E C Tunnell Service Held
Elvie Curtis Tunnell, age 80, a lifelong resident of Chickasaw county, died Dec. 14 at 7:30 am at the Okolona Hospital. He was a retired farmer and resided on Route 1, Houlka. He was born in this county Dec. 1, 1893. He was a member of the Mt Zion Church of God.
Funeral services were conducted at 3:30 pm, Dec. 15, 1973, at the Houston Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Oren Vance officiating. Interment was in the Halsell Cemetery in Chickasaw County.
Survivors include three sons, Ben of Houston, Clyde of Houlka, and Edward of Loraine, Ohio; three daughters, Mrs. Carrie Mae Bennett, Memphis; Mrs. Ada Faye Wages, Houkla; and Mrs. Maxine Gentry, Loraine, Ohio. Also surviving is one brother, Frank Tunnell of Houlka and two sisters, Mrs. Elmer Stacey of Pontotoc and Mrs. Jessie Belle Chapman of Troy. Twenty grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren also survive.
