Marvin Alan Lowery
October 18, 1953 - October 9, 2023

Marvin Alan Lowery, a humble and spirited gentleman, was born on October 18,1953, in Sturgis, Michigan. He was a charismatic presence in every room, a man who drew people in with his charm and kept them close with his thoughtfulness. He took pleasure in the simple things in life, like cheering on his beloved Michigan football team, the thrill of deep-sea fishing, and the grateful smiles of customers at Lowery's Meat and Grocery, a business he co-owned with his brother Jeff for 27 years. As someone once said, "The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well."

Marvin, an esteemed Niles High School graduate, was a man of many adventures. He journeyed from his childhood home in Niles, Michigan, to the bustling city of Las Vegas, where he worked in the trade show industry for two decades before returning to his native Michigan. He was a hardworking and meticulous carpenter, a trade that he mastered over the years. He was a man who took pride in his craft, as much as he did in his interactions with the customers of Lowery's Meat and Grocery.

Marvin is survived by his siblings; Missy Lowery, Marlin Lowery, Jeff (Rhonda Gast) Lowery, June (Greg) Dowdy, Mary (Jim Fugett) Lowery, Judy Lowery, and Jane (Clint) Thrasher. He was preceded in death by his parents, Merle and June Lowery, and his siblings, Merle Jr., Joan Lowery, and Mahlon Lowery.

A visitation will be held for Marvin at the Hoven Funeral Home, 414 East Front Street, Buchanan, Michigan, 49107 on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, from 6:00pm -8:00pm EDT. The funeral service will follow the next day, Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at 12:00pm EDT at the same location.

In the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, "To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children... to leave the world a better place... to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Marvin succeeded in all of these, and his memory will continue to inspire us.

We invite you to share your fondest memories of Marvin and upload photos to his memorial page to celebrate the life of this humble, spirited, charismatic, and thoughtful man. Let's remember Marvin as he was, full of life and always ready to lend a helping hand.
