Max Howard Deakin, 72, died June 14, 1987.

He was born August 9, 1914 in Bingham Canyon, Utah to Robert and Maud Householder Deakin. Married Emma Jewel Miller on July 26, 1937 in Salt Lake City. Max was employed at Kennecott Copper as a Locomotive Engineer for 42 years. He worked for 35 years in Scouting and was on the Eagle Board of Review for many years. An Elder in the LDS Church, he held many positions.

He is survived by: his wife, of West Jordan; three daughters, Arlene Stephens, West Valley City; Barbara Roberts, Park City; Margy Smith, West Jordan; two sons, Jim, Orem; Dan, Midvale; two sisters, Irene Randall, Salt Lake City; LoRee Jolley, West Jordan; three brothers, Gordon, South Jordan; Norris, Midvale; Don, California; and 12 grandchildren, the love of his life. Preceded in death by a son, Richard; sister, Lola; and a brother, Robert [Bob].

Funeral services Thursday, June 18, 1987 at 11 a.m. in the West Jordan 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, 7925 So. 2700 West. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, Wednesday 6-8 p.m. and Thursday at the Church one hour prior to services. Burial, American Fork City Cemetery.
