Dallas Bee Maberry was born on Christmas Eve in 1913 in Granville, Tennessee, the second son of Thomas Mayberry (1882 - 1967) and Mattie Simpson Mayberry (1892 - 1964). Unlike his parents and siblings, he always insisted his last name should be spelled "Maberry." By the time he was a teenager, he and his family had relocated to Nashville. He married Mary Allene Taylor (1903 - 1985) in the mid-1930s and served in the US Army during World War II. He worked at Davis Cabinet Company in Nashville for many years. He and Allene celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary before her passing in 1985.
