Thomas Martin Rothrock was the tenth of twelve known children of Jonathan Amick (1809-1878) and Elizabeth Rothrock (1811-1894), who married 23 Aug 1832 at Mifflin County, Pennsylvania. The family moved from Mifflin County, Pennsylvania to White County, Indiana in 1862. Martin was still living at White County, Indiana with his parents in 1870.

In 1880 a T. M. Amick (age 28, born PA) was living with the William Barnett (b. c1841 in IL) family at Union Township, Benton County, Indiana. Was this Thomas Martin Amick In 1910 Thomas (a hired hand with the Cobb family, a widower) was living at Township 12, Kern County, California. In 1920 Thomas Amick, age 66, widower, was living alone at Los Angeles, ED219, Sheet 5, Page 25, Los Angeles County, California. Nothing else is known of him.
