Ira Earl Sims entered into this life on January 19, 1946 in Tahlequah, OK the son of Robert and Vivian (Akins) Sims. After grade school, Ira continued his education and earned his Master's Degree from OSU. Along the road of life, he was lucky enough to meet the perfect passenger, navigator, and best friend LaRieta Black, and they spent more than 44 years enjoying this life together.

Ira was a hardworking family man that did whatever he needed to take care of those he loved. He worked as a grounds-keeper for Northeastern Health Systems in Tahlequah, OK. After stopping for the day, he just could not seem to keep idle hands. He was always in the yard planting a garden, tinkering with a truck, or hooking a trailer to a tractor for one of the kids many hayrides. There was always something to be done at the Sims home and Ira liked the sense of accomplishment that came with cutting firewood, taking care of the animals, especially the chickens and his dog, and feeding the deer. The outdoors fit Ira perfectly and if the work was done he Knew how to play, from doing donuts in the snow on a four-wheeler, or in his truck, to watching a good rodeo, being outside is where he belonged. When the day was done and it was time to relax, he liked to watch wrestling and old westerns on TV, or set and listen to classic country music. Ira loved spending time with his kids and grandkids and was so proud of the life and family him and LaRieta had created together. October 27, 2023, at the age of 77, in Tahlequah, OK surrounded by the family he loved, Ira completed this life's journey and went home to his final rest. He is an amazing man that will be missed by the many that were lucky enough to know him.
