Judy R. (Elwood) Hothan, 64, of Beatrice died at BryanLGH Medical Center East in Lincoln on Thursday afternoon, April 17, 2008. She was born on September 1, 1943 at Bay City, Michigan and moved with her family to Beatrice. She graduated from Beatrice High School in 1961. She was married to Ron D. Hothan on June 4, 1961 and they lived in Minot, North Dakota while Ron was in the service.

She had worked for Pamida for 42 years as office and receiving specialist. She was a member of the First Christian Church (DOC) of Beatrice where she served as a Deaconess, Deacon, and Board Secretary and was a member of Circle #5; a member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 27 and had served as Secretary and National Defense Chairman. She loved attending her grandchildren's sporting and school events. She also enjoyed traveling and cross stitching with her stitching club.

Survivors include her husband Ron of Beatrice; two daughters, Ronda Horrocks of Omaha and Lisa Sand of Beatrice; one granddaughter, Tara Lloyd; three grandsons, Jayce Horrocks, Travis Sand and Tyler Sand; one brother, Ray E. Elwood, Jr. and wife Dee of Ashland; one sister, Sharon Colgrove and husband Dave of Beatrice; seven nephews and one niece. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray, Sr. and Mildred Claussen Elwood.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, April 21, 2008 at the First Christian Church (DOC) of Beatrice with Rev. David A. Bigley officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 A.M. on Monday in the parlor of the church.

A memorial has been established to the First Christian Church with Dean and Darlene Kunc in charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home until 9:00 P.M.
