He was born August 16, 1915 in Bicknell, Utah, a son of Cyrus Orsen and Jensena Christena Nielsen Rasmussen. He married LaRue Fordham, July 15, 1936 in Thistle, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.
Nad worked at many occupations as he supported his family - - sheep herder, timber, custodian, Bicknell Town Marshall, Naughty Pine Café, Utah State Appraiser and Wayne County Assessor.
Nad held many LDS Church positions in stakes and wards. He and his eternal companion, LaRue, served in the Micronesia Mission on the Island of Yap. He was Branch President there.
His creativity gave many people happiness. His sagebrush tables and clocks decorate many homes throughout the area.
Nad will always be remembered for the love and devotion he gave to family, friends and our Heavenly Father. His spirit dwells in many.
Nad is survived by his life companion and eternal soulmate, LaRue; their four children: Nadine Brown Taylor and Merlin of Loa; Shirley Taylor and Larry, Taylorsville; LaRayne Shedden, Rock Springs, WY; Jay Nad Rasmussen Jr. and Amy, San Diego, CA; as well as 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Eleanor Albrecht and Joy Forsyth, both of Bicknell.
He was preceded in death by 1 great-grandson, 6 sisters, 1 brother and 2 sons-in-law.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 20, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. in the Loa LDS Stake Center. Burial will be in the Bicknell Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
