Hip Broken in Fall 10 Weeks Ago, Proves Fatal
Mrs. Amy Catherine Counts, a school teacher during the Civil War and active in Baptist Church work, died at the home of her son, W. R. Counts, of Hernando, Miss., yesterday afternoon. She was 97 years of age.
Until 10 weeks ago when she fell and broke her hip, Mrs. Counts was active in the missionary work of the Baptist Church and ready without glasses until the time of her death.
She was reared in Tate County, Miss., and about the time of the Civil War was engaged in teaching school. Following the Civil War she moved to Desoto County where she was married.
Funeral services will be held at 11 o'clock this morning at Eudora, Miss., and burial will be in the Goodrum Cemetery there.
Mrs. Counts leaves two sons, W. R. Counts, of Hernando, and A. C. Counts, of Fort Worth, Texas; a daughter, Mrs. Mammie Menzing, of Fort Worth; three grandsons, W. L. Counts of Maud, Miss., R. R. Counts of Hollywood, Miss., and Waldo Counts of Lake Comorant, Miss., and one granddaughter, Mrs. H. B. Royal of Memphis.
