MIDLAND -- Mrs. Benton, 75, of 9764 Flowe Store Road, died Tuesday, November 25, 2003 at NorthEast Medical Center.

Funeral service is 11 AM Friday, November 28, at Bethel United Methodist Church, Midland, with Reverend Rex Gibbs officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Fellowship Hall after the service.

Mrs. Benton was born in Cabarrus County on July 3, 1928, a daughter of the late Hessie Ellen Tucker Black and the late Charlie Samuel Black. She is survived by her husband, Virgil Clinton Benton; son, Sammie Benton of Midland; daughters Vicki Ritch of Midland, Gail Lowder, Lee Ellen Gosselin of Greenville, SC and Julie Kelly of Midland, NC; brothers Boyd Black of Midland and Wade Black of Concord; 12 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church Building Fund, 12700 Idlebrook Road, Midland, NC 28107.

Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland is in charge.
