MRS. A. H. PERKINS

Mary Jane Lockridge, daughter of Samuel and Mary Lockridge, was born in Brown county, Ind., March 9, 1853. She came with her parents to Iowa in May of the same year. They settled on a farm near Spring Hill, where her sister, Catherine Davidson, still lives.

She was married to A.H. Perkins June 9, 1872, and for many years lived on a farm west of Spring Hill where her son, T.J. Perkins now resides. Mr. Perkins passed away in 1922.

In 1924 Mrs. Perkins moved to Prole where on July 16, 1942, she passed away at the age of 89 years, 4 months and 7 days.

She joined the Methodist church in 1887. From that time to the end of her life the welfare of the church came first in all she did or said.

Besides her husband she was preceded in death by three daughters, Leona, Martha Elliott and Zelva Burkhead.

Surviving are her son, T.J. Perkins; daughters, Orilla Gates, Virgie Hall, Lista Wheeler and Beatrice Burkhead [should be Mrs. Elliott]; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Funeral services were held at the Linn Grove church Saturday morning, July 18, conducted by the Rev. Wm. Slack of Norwalk. Burial was in the Linn Grove cemetery.

Prole, July 22 -- Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Jane Perkins were conducted Saturday, July 18, at 11 a.m. at the Linn Grove Methodist church. The Rev. Wm. H. Slack was in charge of the services. Interment was in the Linn Grove cemetery.
