He was born January 13, 1931 in Hardin County, Ky., the son of Richard Lee and Annie Elizabeth Morrison Abell. He was a former school teacher, and a retired postmaster at Leitchfield Post Office, a U.S. Navy veteran, a past member of the American Legion, and a member of the Liberty Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Glenn Abell; his sons, Clifton and Thomas G. (Jennifer) Abell, both of Leitchfield; his daughters, Karen Walker (Allan) of Bowling Green, Ky. and Lori Riggs (Marty) of Upton, Ky.; one brother, Francis Abell of Hodgenville, Ky.; one sister, Alma Nelson of New Jersey, Ky.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchilidren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Watkins; and two brothers, George and Joe Abell.
Burial will be in the Williams Cemetery.
