Carla Kay Cannon Evensen
March 26, 1942 — October 22, 2023
Bountiful, UT
Carla Kay Cannon Evensen, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully in her home on October 22nd, 2023. She was born March 26th, 1942, in St. George, Utah, to John McKay Cannon and Arvetta Ellen Terry.

Carla spent her early years in St. George, Cedar City, and Las Vegas. As a teen, Carla and her family moved north to Bountiful, Utah. Her high school years brought a friendship with Gary Eugene Evensen. Love bloomed and marriage followed. Gary and Carla were married on August 30th, 1958. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They became the parents of Twlya Kay and Shaun Eugene. The years that followed included hard work and a desire to improve their family situation.

Carla studied at Weber State University and the University of Utah while Gary attended night school learning to weld and fabricate metal. Eventually, they created Evensen Ornamental Iron. Carla maintained the office side of their joint venture for 45 years. In addition, she showed her love of flowers and crafts by opening Carla's Creative Creations. She loved helping clients with holiday gifts and floral arrangements. Her beautiful yard reflected her love of flowers.

Carla loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ, serving faithfully in many callings in her Latter-day Saint ward. She taught her children to pray and keep the commandments. When challenges arose, her kids often found her on her knees asking Heavenly Father for help.

Carla is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Twyla, brother David and sister Debbie Gause. She is survived by her husband Gary, son Shaun (Carla), sisters Kolean and Dorothy, and brother Larry. Carla leaves behind 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 28th, 2023, at the Bountiful 25th Ward, 1501 South 600 East, Bountiful, Utah. Friends may call at Russon Mortuary, 295 N. Main in Bountiful, on Friday, October 27th, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday at the ward building from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment to be held at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
