Karen A. Elbin, age 77, of Mount Vernon passed away on Friday, October 20, 2023, with her loving family at her side.

She was born on May 20, 1946, in Springfield, Ohio to the late Burch and Shirley (Jordon) Chaney. She was a graduate of The Ohio State University where she earned her degree in Education. Karen was employed and retired from the Mount Vernon Wastewater Plant where she was an operator for over 27 years. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading, going to the gym, and her feline companions. But most of all, Karen loved the time she spent with her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Katie George, Becky (Will) Wolfe, Diane (Scott) Brown; her life partner David Elbin; her grandchildren, Kyleigh George, Serina Wolfe, TJ Garven, Dammon Wolfe, Averie Brown; her sisters, Vickie (Tony) Robinson, Kyna (Jack) Paul, Rachel (Doug) Garrett, Sue Chaney; and her brothers Ross (Sherry) Chaney and Paul Chaney.

In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her brother Glen Chaney.

Friends may call on Thursday, October 26, 2023, from 4-6pm at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home with the funeral service following beginning at 6pm with Pastor Marvin Haught officiating. Burial will take place at Oakdale Cemetery, in Marysville, on Friday, October 27, 2023, beginning at 1pm.
