Leroy Ernest Pusey

CRISFIELD - Leroy Ernest Pusey, 79, of Crisfield died Monday, April 26, 2004, at his home following a lingering illness.

Born in Marion Station on April 25, 1925, he was the son of the late Leroy Harvey and Mattie Marshall Pusey.

He was a retired employee at the Crisfield Post Office, working 28 years before his retirement in 1988.
Pusey was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran. An aerial gunner in World War II, he was a prisoner of war and received many decorations and citations. He was a member of Stanley Cochrane Post 16 American Legion in Crisfield for 59 years, Crisfield Elks Lodge 1044 and the Ex-Prisoners of War in Salisbury.

An avid reader and Civil War buff, he had a large stamp collection and also had a quarter collection.
Mr. Pusey was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Crisfield.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Gertrude Sterling "Trudy" Pusey of Crisfield; two daughters, Terri Howard of Marion Station and Sherri Sodergren of Chesapeake, Va.; five stepchildren, Donna Wootten of Salisbury, Bonnie Somers, Tommy Parkinson Jr. and Ricky Parkinson, all of Crisfield, and Lea Ann Leslie of Dallas; five grandchildren, Hope Shores of Tangier Island, Jodi Howard of Marion Station, Stephanie Howard of Crisfield and Joshua Sodergren and Zachary Sodergren, both of Chesapeake; nine stepgrandchildren, Gordon Ward of Pasadena, Steven Ward of Salisbury, Dawn Howard of Kingston, Nathan Leslie and Trever Leslie, both of Dallas, Richard Parkinson Jr. and Cynthia Parkinson, both of
Brian, Texas, and Danielle Evans and Hannah Parkinson, both of Crisfield; four greatgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held April 28.
