John Finney Dismukes Sr, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 after a brief illness. He was born in Charlotte North Carolina to Col. and Mrs. Jackson B. Dismukes Sr. He grew up all over the world while his father served as a physician in the U.S. Army. John graduated from Auburn University where he met his wife of sixty years. After receiving his BS and MS in parasitology he worked as a microbiologist for the Mobile Division Laboratory of the Alabama Department of Health.

He was preceded in death by his two sons, John F. Dismukes Jr and Steven Christopher Dismukes. He is survived by his beloved wife Teddy. He's also survived by his beloved daughter Amy (Joe) Elizabeth Fulton, three grandchildren, Aaron (Samantha) Spiewak, Breland Dismukes, and Stephanie Dismukes. He has one great granddaughter, Ella Rae Spiewak.

He loved family, reading, and travel. He completed many road trips across the United States, sightseeing and camping in 48 states and much of Canada. After retiring, he cruised and traveled much of the world.

He was a good man. He will be missed.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 2 pm from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1pm until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
