Beverly Boots Obituary
Beverly (Bill) L. Boots, born Feb. 7, 1928, passed away Sept. 27, 2023, after a short battle with lung cancer. He was the son of Frederick Collin Boots and Mildred Martha Abele. Bill attended Woodland schools, graduating from Woodland High School in 1954. He served in the Navy Mobile Construction Battalion 10 in Guam from 1952 through 1954, proud to be a member of the "Seabees". He was employed with Kordite/Mobil Chemical from 1959 until his retirement in 1984.Bill was preceded in death by his parents, son Bryce Boots, daughter Carleen Hegele and wife Virginia H. Boots. He is survived by wife Marilyn, nieces Kathy (Tim) Farnham of Woodland and Karen (Marty) Richter of Dallas Oregon, cousins Gail Abele Carter of Rocklin and John Abele of Reno as well as grand nieces and nephews, great-grand nephews and numerous extended family members. Bill volunteered for twenty years as a driver with the local Community Care Car and was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Mason, the American Legion, Elks Lodge and the National Rifle Association of America. He had many interests throughout his life which included martial arts, being an Amateur Radio operator, a member of the Sierra Treasure Hunters Jeep Club, a motorcycle enthusiast. a gun collector reloading his own ammunition, traveling across the U.S. towing his travel trailer and playing Blackjack and Poker, including participating in Poker tournaments at the Elks Lodge until the last six months of his life. He also enjoyed old country and jazz music. During the time when they were both working and raising their own children, Bill and his wife "Ginny" opened their home to two young nieces who had lost their mother to cancer. Bill remained more of a father figure to them up to his passing. Bill's interest in cooking began when he became Ginny's caregiver for a number of years due to her health issues. The spicier the better in Bill's opinion, boasting numerous times in recent years that he enjoyed his own cooking more than that of others. Per Bill's wishes, no funeral service or memorial gathering will be held. Those wishing to make a contribution in Bill's honor might consider the local Community Care Car at 2001 East Street Woodland CA 95776 or the Yolo County SPCA at Post Office Box 510 Davis CA 95616.
