Robert Otis "Bob" Deviney passed away on July 8, 2015 in St. Petersburg, Florida. He was born in Rutherford County, North Carolina, on January 6, 1933 to Emory Otis and Mary Flynn Deviney. Bob was a 1951 graduate of Rutherfordton-Spindale Central High School and a 1955 graduate of the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill where he majored in Business Administration. While at UNC, Bob was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. After graduating Bob served in the Military Intelligence Branch of the U.S. Army in Stuttgart, Germany. Upon completing his tour of duty in the military, Bob returned to North Carolina and worked in personnel at Spindale Mills before moving to Winston-Salem as the personnel director of Hennis Freight Lines. In 1966 Bob moved to West Palm Beach after accepting a position with the Palm Beach County School Board as Director of Non-Instructional Personnel working there until his retirement. Following retirement, Bob enjoyed extensive travels throughout the world. He is survived by his son Robert Britt Deviney and wife Dorothy Jacks Deviney, daughter Frances Brooke Deviney of West Palm Beach and special friend Walter Jacobson of St. Petersburg, Florida. Other surviving family members include two sisters, Joan Deviney Wall and Mary Rachel Deviney Moore and husband, Hugh; three brothers, William C. Deviney and wife Ann, Jerry F. Deviney and wife Linda, and James R. Deviney and wife Betty.
