Nancy Jane "MaMa" (Toy) Alexander, 90, of Kittanning (Applewold), died Saturday, April 25, 2009, at home. She was born Aug. 1, 1918, in Adrian, a daughter of the late Earl and Dolly (Hooks) Toy. She lived in the area for 50 years and was of the Protestant faith. She was employed at Fair Rest Home and was nanny to many children over the past 50 years. She was a milk glass collector, an avid flower gardener, a seamstress and was known for her love of anything red, and her cooking, especially homemade buns. She is survived by her daughters, Kay (Joseph) Serian, of Akron, Ohio, Arlene (Loran) Scholl, of Adrian, Margaret Mitchell, of Kittanning, Nancy (Ron) Passarelli, of Butler, Betsy (Gordon) Garmong, of Ford City, and Mandy Mauthe, of Kittanning; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and many special friends and neighbors. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd E. Alexander, on April 9, 1969; seven sisters, Lucille Hommel, Clara Quantrell, Mary Chitty, Katie Manes, Ivy Toy, Sally Kinter and Becky Tenney; six brothers, Merle Toy, Sid Toy, Clyde Toy, Andrew Toy, Pete Toy and Jimmy Toy; and two sons-in-law, Brad Mauthe and Dewey Mitchell. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME, Kittanning, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev.
