From The Missouri Valley Times (Oregon, MO) June 21, 1876, Page 1:

"Departed this life, June 9th, 1876, from the effects of the measles, producing tubercles of the brain, after a lingering illness of some two months, Dora Florence, infant daughter of Joseph and S.E. Hodgin, aged 9 months and 24 days.

Little Dora was with us but for a little while and oh! how hard to give her up. Still, we know our loss is her great gain; we know she has gone to make up the jewels of that celestial land, for the Bless Savior said in his Holy word, "Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not, for of such is the Kingdom of Heaven," and we know if we are faithful followers of the blessed of the Master we will meet her again in that Holy land-the new Jerusalem, where-"all tears will be wiped from our eyes" and where we will all "sing praises to God and the Lamb forever and ever, Amen."

"A few more days of waiting,
Of care and toiling strife,
And we will meet our little Dora,
In the remains of eternal life."
