Abner Davis Harbour was born in Neshoba County in 1909. He was known as "Ab." In the late 1920s, Abner attended the Agricultural and Mechanical College of the State of Mississippi (later to be known as Mississippi State University.) He married Mary Claire Mosley. Abner was a veteran of World War II and enlisted at Camp Shelby. He was the mayor of Philadelphia, Mississippi between the years of 1961-1968. He can be found being quoted in newspapers during the Mississippi Burning case during the summer of 1964. Abner died in 1982.
