Joseph Camp Finney, 79, died of natural causes after an extended illness at Louis Stokes VA Hospital, Cleveland, Ohio. Joe was preceded by his parents, Joseph Austin and Mary Elizabeth Camp Finney. He graduated from Cedarville High School, Cedarville, Ohio, in 1962. Joe graduated from University of Missouri at Rolla, Missouri with a B. S. in Chemical Engineering. He then entered grad school but was drafted by the US Army in 1969. While in Vietnam, he did surveillance infrared repair on the OV- 1 Mohawk aircraft. After serving in the army, Joe was able to complete his masters and worked as a control systems engineer in the chemical process industry, in northeast Ohio. Joe was a generous, soft-spoken person who loved family and friends and had a good sense of humor. He enjoyed photography and hiking with his dogs. Joe is survived by his sister, Linda (Finney) Rearick and her husband Gary Rearick, of Englewood, FL, and his brother Fred Austin Finney, of Macomb, IL. Joe had four nieces, Tiffany Ann Rearick, of Columbus, OH, Leesh (Rearick) Andrews and her husband Todd Andrews, of Berkley, CA, Emma Finney and her husband Stefan Hessler of Berlin, Germany, and Honor Finney of Minneapolis, MN. A memorial service will be held at the Clifton Presbyterian Church on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 11 AM, with a lunch following. Joseph will be interned in Clifton Cemetery beside his parents. Memorial donations can be made to one of the food banks that he supported, especially after he was hospitalized and couldn't get out to volunteer.
