Rites For Area Pioneer Held In Bainville
Funeral services for Mrs. Josephine Brown were held Monday at 2 p.m. from the Methodist church in Bainville, with the Rev. Howard D. Simpson officiating. Burial was in the family plot in the Bainville Cemetery.
Mrs. Brown, the former Josephine Evans, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William C. Evans, died Friday at the Roosevelt Memorial Hospital in Culbertson after a long illness.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Robert Miller of Helena and Nelson Miller of Missoula; a daughter, Mrs. William Harmon of Bainville; 16 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
She was born at Fort Benton in 1878 and in 1901 was married to Robert Miller of Highwood. They came to the Culbertson area in 1903, later homesteading north of Bainville, where they lived until Miller's death in 1937. She lived for some years in western Montana and in 1946 was married to Archie Brown at Coram. They moved back to Bainville in 1952. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Bainville Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
