Mrs. Shirley Rasmussen Walker, age 78 of Stuart, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at the R. J. Reynolds Patrick County Memorial Hospital in Stuart. She was born in Seward, Nebraska on February 17, 1930 to the late Fred C. Rasmussen and Alta Irene Alley Rasmussen. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by one sister, Joyce Layman; and two brothers, Darrell Rasmussen and Fred C. Rasmussen, Jr. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, and had been the owner/operator of Stuart Sandwich Shop.
Mrs. Walker is survived by her husband, Thomas J. Walker of the home; four daughters and sons-in-law, Cathleen S. Lankford of Claudville, Peggy L. and Carry Wagoner of Bassett, Margaret S.. and Charlie Lee Shough of Patrick Springs and Pamela J. Errichetti of Stuart; one son and daughter-in law, Steven W. and Rita D. Spencer of Rocky Mount; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Walker will be held Friday, March 14, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Elder Donnie Conner and Pastor David Freeman officiating. Burial will be in the Walker Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, and at other times at the home.
