Judy was born on September 24, 1943, in Calexico, to Joe and Opal Petree. She grew up in El Centro and graduated from Central Union High School in 1961. She attended one year at Imperial Valley College.
Judy married Fred Myers on June 15, 1962, at the First Methodist Church in El Centro, California. They were married for 55 years. They had four children: Jana Earls (Wes) of Brawley, Cathy Ann Myers, Mary Brown (Edward) of Imperial, and Freddy Myers (Jennifer) of Chino. Judy had six grandchildren: Meghan Chalupnik (Trey) of Caldwell, ID, Weston Earls (Megan) of Brawley, Emily and Caitlin Brown, and Catherine (Johannes) and Serah Myers. She had eight great-grandchildren: Amber, Aubrey, Cash, Mandey, Chance, and Macie Chalupnik; Charlotte and Ethan Earls.
Judy was preceded in death by her baby daughter, Cathy Ann; husband, Fred; parents, Joe and Opal Petree; in-laws, Billy and Lavada Myers; and brother and sisters, Mike Petree, Lenora Poole, and Susan Hovley; and in-laws, Hugh Poole, Mike Hovley, Bob Myers, Johnny Myers, and John and Alice Clark.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Anna and Kirby Teague of Imperial; and brother and sister-in-law, Chris and Trish Petree of El Centro; and many nieces and nephews.
Judy began her working career as a switchboard operator at The Gas Company. She then moved on to a new role as a veterinarian assistant at Brawley Animal Clinic for Dr. York. She finished working as a bookkeeper at Reata Cattle Feeders and Rio Bend Cattle Co. with Fred.
Judy enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her grandkids. She enjoyed watching TV, reading, playing solitaire, and going for a tall coffee frappuccino with whip cream from Starbucks. She loved to go shopping with her sisters. She delighted in spending time with family in the Laguna Mountains as well as traveling the western half of the United States in a fifth wheel with Fred. She looked forward to hanging out with her bunco group and the women in red hats.
Judy will be laid to rest on Monday, September 18, 2023, at 9 am at Riverview Cemetery in Brawley, CA.
