In June 1917 he requested a deferment because he worked for the New York Telephone Co. In the late 1920's he moved his wife and child to Houston, Texas.
On 4 Mar 1946, WWII, he started his military service in the US Air Force. During his time in the Air Force he raised himself to the rank of Lt. Colonel.
He and his family never left Houston and he was given full military honors and buried in the Long Island National Cemetery, quite near his place of birth.
He is survived by his wife Johanna Pauline [Minkus] and his daughter Joan Farrington Aldrich. There are many cousins and other relatives of his back in New York who shall remember him fondly.
