FRANKLIN
Roscoe Floyd Sneed

Roscoe Floyd Sneed passed away at his home Monday, March 13, 2006, in Franklin.

He fought a courageous 14-month battle with lung and liver cancer, always with a smile on his face and hope in his heart. He wanted to get well but accepted the fact it wasn't going to be. God chose rather to take him home.

He was born on May 7, 1928, in Somerset, Ky., to the late Henry Green "Pete" Sneed and Lizzie Ellen (Sweet) Sneed. He was preceded in death by three full sisters; two brothers; and fifteen half sisters and half brothers.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Betty; two daughters, Vicky McArtor and Lucinda McMillian; and two sons; Tim and Rick Sneed. He also is survived by eight grandchildren, Ronelle (Kevin) Thompson, Trenton (Melissa) McArtor, Christopher (Lena) Sneed, Amy (Duane) Lanter, Janelle McArtor, Jason Sneed, Matthew Barker and Nathan McMillian; six great-grandchildren, Justin Dick, Jordan and Conner Lanter, Tyler and Kloe Thompson and MacKenzie Bailey.

He was employed by the city of Franklin for 48 years. He hired in to help clean up after the tornado that hit Franklin in 1958 and stayed on to fill the position of foreman for many years.

His position for the past couple of years for the city was inspector of the new construction sewer lines. He was very proud of his many years of employment because of the kind, caring people like Rick Littleton and the city council. He had the comfort and peace of mind that if he could get well, his job was waiting on him.

He was well known throughout the city of Franklin for his ability to get the streets cleared after a snowstorm and clean up after high winds and rain storms and for just going the extra mile to help anywhere he could.

His passing leaves a big empty place in the hearts of his family, his church family at the Abounding Grace Worship Center in Martinsville and a host of other friends and co-workers.

The Revs. Ken Hayden and Bob Hoots will conduct a service at 1 p.m. Saturday at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. in Franklin. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.

Memorial contributions may be made to Abounding Grace Worship Center Building Fund, 1790 Centeron Road, Martinsville, IN 46151.
