Her formative years were spent at the Nonesuch Presbyterian Church, the Nonesuch Elementary School and her parents' farm nestled between the church and school. Pippin was a proud graduate of Versailles High School in 1958 and attended one year at Montreat College in Montreat, North Carolina.
Pippin returned to Woodford County and began a career in state government. She was employed by the Personnel Department and later moved to the Office of the Governor, serving Governor Bert Combs and Governor Ned Breathitt. She worked at the Legislative Research Commission starting in 1977 in the Office of the Director, and she remained with LRC until her retirement in 1996.
In August of 1979, she married Jim Roberts, and they embarked upon a 44-year journey together. Pippin was a loving mother to her three children and a doting grandmother. After retirement, Pippin enjoyed gardening, antiques, auctions, beach vacations, and UK basketball. She followed her Wildcats to many games, including the 2012 team to New Orleans to watch them win the national championship.
Pippin was a member of the Frankfort Garden Club. She served as an officer and as a member of the Executive Board. She was a champion for the Lilian Lindsay Garden Committee, originally located behind the former Paul Sawyier Public Library and at its current location at the Frankfort Women's Club. She also operated an antique booth at Old Capitol Antiques on West Broadway.
In addition to her parents, Pippin was preceded in death by her daughter Jebbie Barbour and her son-in-law Todd Denham.
