Walter Kimble Foster, better known as Kim, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 29, 2023, at the age of 83 in Nashville, Tennessee. Born on May 27, 1940, in Fayetteville, Tennessee, Kim was a strong and faithful man. He graduated from Franklin High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Middle Tennessee State University. He dedicated 36 years of his life as a librarian at the East Branch Public Library, retiring as the Head Librarian in May of 2000.

Kim was a beloved husband of 57 years to Peggy Lee Foster and a cherished father to Ped Foster (Jeanne), Jackie Foil (Bo), and Jaime Horton (Mike). He was also a proud grandfather to Garrett and Emmalee Foster, Sawyer, Slade, and Colby Foil, and Nathan and Jack Horton. Kim was loved by his siblings, Pat Young, Jane Cheatham, Jean Young, and John Conatser as well as his cousins Janet Lindsay and Kay Pittman. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his father, WK Foster (Elaine); mother, Elizabeth Conatser (Marvin); and brother, Charlie T. Foster.

Kim inspired many by his courage and determination. He lived his life with a million-dollar smile that made you feel like you were the only person in the room. Kim enjoyed reading, eating, traveling across a state line, and spending quality time with his family and friends. He was an active and faithful member of the Church of Christ.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at Woodson Chapel Church of Christ, located at 5800 Edmondson Pike, Nashville, TN. Always thinking of others, Kim chose to have his remains donated to Vanderbilt University for medical research and education.

The family of Kim Foster would like to thank Caris Hospice for the compassionate care provided at The Meadows during his final days.
