Entered into rest on April 12, 2008 at his residence, Jonathon Adam Akins, son of Mr. Phillip and Kathy Usry Akins of Martinez, Ga. Adam lived all of his life in Columbia County. He was a student at ASU and was to graduate in Pre-Med this year. He was a member of the Martinez Baptist Church. Survivors: parents, Phillip and Kathy Akins, Martinez; two brothers, Matthew Akins and David Akins, Martinez; grandparents, George and Sandra Akins, Evans and Harry and Sandra Usry, Evans; two uncles, Tony and wife Donna Akins and Tommy and wife Jennifer Akins; one great-aunt, Mrs. Neta Cook; two great uncles, Jack and wife Edna Usry and James and wife Janet Hooks; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at 11 a.m. from the Martinez Baptist Church with the Rev. Phill Winsett officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Adam will lie in state at the church one hour prior to service. Family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight between the hours of 7 and 9 p.m. Pallbearers: Tony Akins, Tommy Akins, Nick Akins, Chris Zeigler, Tiago Martin, Mike Cook, George Daniels, and Steve Rabun.
