Bostick, Raymond Marlin




Raymond Marlin Bostick, 89, of Lee's Summit passed away Sunday, April 13, 2008 at his home following a brief illness. Graveside services will be Thursday, April 17 at 1:30 p.m. at Leavenworth National Cemetery. The visitation will be Wednesday, April 16 from 6-8 p.m. at the Langsford Funeral Home, Lee's Summit, Mo. Ray was born December 29, 1918 in Iatawamba County, Mississippi, the fifth son born to Henderson and Mary Bostick. He was raised in Belmont, Mississippi until the age of 8 then moved to Red Bay, Alabama. In 1942 he enlisted in the US Army, serving as a ski trooper in Iceland and Greenland. He was a Staff Sergeant and was honorably discharged in 1944. He married Rosemary Porter in 1945 and to this union two sons were born, Michael Ray and John William. Ray worked as a construction foreman for most of his career, was a member of Local 264, and retired in 1979. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary, of 60 years in 2005. Survivors include his sons, both of Lee's Summit; one brother in Red Bay, Alabama; and four grandchildren, Keith, Matthias, Sarah, and William.
