CHAMPION — Stanton E. Parker, 83, Champion, went to be with the Lord at 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2008, with his family at his side, at Hospice House of Poland.

He was born Jan. 27, 1925, in Burnsville, W.Va., the son of the late Minter and Lilly Howard Parker.

Mr. Parker retired from Packard Electric after 40 years of service.

He was an honorably discharged veteran who served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.

Stanton was a member of First Assembly of God Church and enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and traveling. He was an avid Cleveland Browns and Ohio State fan. Everyone who entered his home was greeted with hugs and kisses.

Survivors include his wife, the former Lucille Rine, whom he married June 3, 2000; four stepsons, Tim Allen of Champion, Chuck Allen of Warren, the Rev. Joseph Rine of Dallas and Tom Rine of Fort Myers, Fla.; three stepdaughters, Cathy Miller of Howland, Cindy Losey of Bristolville and Linda Allen of Warren; many stepgrandchildren; step-great-grandchildren; and sister, Beulah Denna of Warren.

Other than his parents, Mr. Parker was preceded in death by two brothers, Bernard and Scoville Parker; two stepsons, Paul Rine and Ronald Allen; and his first wife, Ernestine Allen Parker.

Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Thursday at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. The Rev. Joseph Rine and the Rev. Richard Ballinger will officiate for the funeral service. Committal service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Sager Memorial Cemetery. Interment will be at Sager Memorial Cemetery
