After completing High School in New York City, he joined the Air Force and was stationed in Tripoli. After being honorably discharged, he attended Virginia Union University in Richmond, where he obtained a bachelor's degree in social work. He furthered his education and received a master's degree from john Jay College in Brooklyn. He then served the State of New York as a Parole Officer for many years. Late in life, he married Elaine Tolentino, who he knew in his younger years from the "old neighborhood". They bought a home in Tucson, AZ to be close to his brother and his family and split their time between New York and Tucson, AZ. Sadly, in September 2023, he had an unexpected stroke and passed a few weeks later. He was cremated per his wishes and is interred at the Veterans Memorial in Marana, Arizona.
