Dorothea (Dottie) Wakefield Donovan of Machias, beloved mother and Nana, went to be with the Lord on September 12, 2023, surrounded by loved ones.

Dottie was born on July 21, 1932, in Columbia Falls, Maine. She was the youngest of four children born to Marjorie Leighton Wakefield and Ira Colson Wakefield. Dottie was proud to be from Columbia Falls and graduated in 1950 from Columbia Falls High School.

After graduating high school, Dottie began her role as a wife and mother, a role that came so naturally to her.

After accompanying her then-husband in the United States Air Force for 20 years, she
finally moved back to Washington County, ME, in 1971, settling in Machias, where she
has been a beloved member of the community for the last 52 years.

She was a proud member of the American Legion Women Auxiliary Post #9 and proudly
still wore her auxiliary hat with such pride. Dottie loved to sing and dance and was the life
of every party right up until her death. She loved her baby kitty and her family fiercely;
her family was her biggest pride and accomplishment. Dottie will be tremendously missed
by her loving family and the Machias community.

Dottie is survived by her beloved children: Deborah Norman of Machias, ME; Darlene
Brenton and husband Dave Brenton of Hancock, ME; Malcom Donovan Jr. and wife
Marla Donovan of Machias, ME; and Donna Weaver and husband Willy Weaver of
Machias, ME. Dottie is also survived by her 21 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren,
and 3 great-great-grandchildren, who all knew her as "Nana" and loved her so dearly.
Also survived are many nieces, nephews, and cousins of Dottie, along with a special best
friend, Yoshiko Weaver, also known as "Grammy".

Proceeding by death are Dottie's parents, two brothers, Harold and Roger Wakefield,
and a sister, Marie Wakefield Strout. The father of her beloved children, Malcom
Donovan SR, her son-in Law Gerald Savage, and her son-in Law Clayton Norman, along
with one grandson, Maverick Norman.

A celebration of Dorothea's life will be held on September 30th, 2023, at 1:00 at Jonesport
Pentecostal Church. All are welcome.
