Our loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great- grandmother, and precious friend Nan Sturdy passed away on February 22nd 2019, 19 days after her 90th birthday, and 16 days after her 68th wedding anniversary to her adoring and devoted husband Ian.

Nan was born in Glasgow, Scotland. In 1951, she emigrated to Jamaica with Ian, where her three children Allan, David, and Karen were born and raised. The couple enjoyed a charmed life with a large network of friends and extended family. These relationships were at the center of Nan's life, she worked hard at cultivating and maintaining her friendships through the years. The couple's interests were mostly centered around golf, dancing and church.

Nan and Ian then emigrated to the US in 1977, where 7 of her 9 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren were born. Nan's social skills allowed the couple to once again make new friends through their Sunrise Presbyterian Church. She loved her church community and was a Stephens minister, trained to provide caregiving and Christian counseling. She was always a good listener and provided support and love with her graceful presence.

Nan's special gifts were her social grace and her wonderful ability to laugh at herself. Nan's smile was infectious, and her joy for life, her husband, and her family is what she lived for. She loved to entertain and was the best Santa at every family Christmas gathering. She will be missed and will always be loved.

A Celebration of Life for Nan will be held on Sunday 3rd March at 3pm.
Sunrise Presbyterian Church, 18400 NW 68th Ave, Hialeah, FL 33105

In lieu of flowers please send donations to Sunrise Church.
