A. Michael Kendig, 84, of West Chester, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023. Born in Chester, PA, Michael was the son of the late Donald D. and Marian E. (Saettel) Kendig. He was the beloved husband of Beverly (Pemberton) Kendig. The couple shared 59 years of marriage.
Early in his career, Michael was the director of the K&S Instrument Company of Media, PA - originally founded by his parents, Donald & Marian. He later discovered his passion for auctioneering and spent the remainder of his life actively pursuing his career as an Auctioneer. Michael's love of auctioneering was the driving force of his life and he never tired of sharing his experiences with others. He was a dedicated life-long learner of all things antiques, furniture, and cars - both new and old. Always quick with a joke or a story, Michael enjoyed spending time with family and friends and could be counted on to lend a helping hand no matter who, what, when, or where.
Michael was a member of Pennsylvania State Auctioneer's Association and St. James Episcopal Church of Downingtown.
In addition to his wife, Michael is survived by his children: Jennifer King, wife of George, of West Chester, and Joanne Mueller, wife of Jeremy, of West Chester; grandchildren: Andrew, Abigail, Aaron, Christopher, Michaela, and Caden. In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his brother, David.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023 from 9:45-10:45 at James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown, immediately followed by a memorial service at 11 AM. Interment will be conducted privately.
In lieu of flowers, and in keeping with Michael's dedication to helping others in need, memorial contributions may be made to North Star of Chester County or Brandywine Valley Active Aging .
