The obituary goes on to include that she was born Elizabeth Cordell in Beartown, Franklin Co., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Cordell. It includes: "Husband and these children survive: Charles Ellis, aged 5 years, Franklin Monroe, aged 3 years, and Carrie, aged 5 months. She is also survived by two sisters: Mrs. Crilly, South Waynesboro; and Mrs. Wolf, Washington, D.C."
Although not mentioned in her obituary, Elizabeth had four older children: Hattie, George, and Daisy Cordell, and a young son who died in March 1895. George used the Bender surname.
