Ruthie Mae Pennington-Dockett, 83, passed away on September 17, 2023.

She was born on March 31, 1940 in Pastoria, AR.

Ruthie grew up in Pastoria, AR, and attended the Morris Chapel and Pastoria Schools. One of her proudest moments was returning to school and receiving her GED from Adult Education the same year her oldest daughter received her high school diploma.

She married Theodis Dockett, Sr. in 1957 and to this union, nine children were born: eight daughters and one son. Ruthie's church membership was initially with New Cheeks Chapel A.M.E. Church, however, after marrying Theodis, she became a member of Morris Chapel M.B. Church, where she was a member until her death. Prior to Ruthie's illness, she was a Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member, President of the Mission Society, Deaconess, and Mother of the Church.

Ruthie was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Pennington and Lucille Pennington; her brothers: West Pennington, Ellsworth Pennington, Maceo Pennington, and A. C. Pennington; her sisters: Mable, Leigh, Allie, Leti, MayBea, Delois, and Mildred; and her sons-in-law, Harold Miller and Wardell Wilson.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Theodis Dockett, Sr.; her children: Avis Wilson, Cheri Byrd, Anna Miller, Dr. Tammi Dockett-Wilson (David), Colette Lizarraga (Carlos), Theodis Dockett Jr., Jennifer Dockett, AlLysha Brown (Kenny), and Monica Tucker; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; one sister, Mattie Stewart; one brother, Antar Baaree (Roshell); two brothers-in-law, Curlee Dockett and L.C. Dockett; three sisters-in-law: Theola Bradley, Ocie Dockett, and Juana Dockett; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

The funeral services will be held in New Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Sherrill, AR with Pastor Joseph Valliant officiating. The internment services will be held at Morris Chapel Cemetery in Sherrill, AR.
