RIVERTON - Funeral services for Riverton resident Bacilio P. "Ute" Cordova, 87, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, March 28, at Davis Funeral Home of Riverton. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Riverton, with committal rites accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
A dinner will follow in the VFW Hall in West Riverton.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 27, at the funeral home.
He died March 23, 2005, at Riverton Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 19, 1917, in Thompson, Utah, he was the son of Epemenio and Emmer (West) Cordova; and was raised and educated there.
He served in the U.S. Army for three years during World War II; was honorably discharged in 1945; then moved to Riverton.
On Oct. 7, 1950, he married Dorothy Hernandez in Cheyenne.
He was a retired rancher.
A member of the VFW and Protestant faith, he founded the Christian Food Store House in Riverton and operated it himself for 11 years. He loved to hunt and fish and help people in need.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years of Riverton; two sons and their wives, Gilbert Chavez of Rawlins and Ray Chavez of Gillette; daughter, Virginia Cox, and her husband of Albuquerque, N.M.; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, four sisters, and two grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Christian Food Store, in care of Davis Funeral Home, 2203 W. Main St., Riverton, WY 82501.
