Born in Vandergrift, Westmoreland Township, on September 18, 1935, he was the son of the late Roy M. Graden, Sr., and Pearl Crytzer Glover.
Roy retired as a construction contractor for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission. After retirement he was also a tool salesman. Roy was a graduate of Ford City High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Roy was a member of Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, Middletown. He was a PIAA High School Basketball Referee, as well as a college basketball referee. Roy volunteered as a Harrisburg Senators Usher. An avid Pittsburgh Pirates baseball fan, he was a member of its Booster Club.
Roy was a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA), and its Hershey and Gettysburg Region Chapters. He served as Chairman of the AACA Hershey Fall Meet in 1984; was President in 1985 of the AACA Hershey Region and then became a Board Member of the region in 1986. Roy earned the rank of Senior Master Judge for the AACA in 1986. In 1994, he was elected National President of the AACA. The AACA Museum, Inc., in Hershey elected Roy their President in 1995. Along with his love for antique cars, Roy enjoyed collecting old toys.
In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Wolf Graden, on August 7, 2019; and a son, Timothy P. Graden, on January 23, 2012.
Roy is survived by one son, Ty M. Graden husband of Tania of Hummelstown; and two grandsons, Thomas and Matthew husband of Kayla.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 11 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown. A private inurnment will be in the Resurrection Cemetery, West Hanover Township. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family on Saturday in the funeral home from 10 AM until the time of the service.
