TUPELO – A wonderful steel magnolia, Glenda Lee Brown Kelly, 83, died peacefully on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at the Sanctuary Hospice House surrounded by the love of her family. Glenda was born on February 6, 1940 in Johnson City, TN to the late George William and Ruby Barnes Brown. She graduated in 1953 from High School in Jackson, TN, and shortly after, the family moved to Tupelo from Nashville, TN in 1953. On June 21, 1975, Glenda married Eddie Wayne Kelly. This union brought two beautiful families together as one. Glenda was a Proverbs 31 Lady, always top drawer in dress, decorum and love in her heart for all. Always dressing to the 9s, Glenda's personality was contagious and expansive. She was very active as a volunteer at Sanctuary Hospice Village. For many years, she was an active member of First Christian Church in Tupelo. At the time of her death, she was a member of St. Luke United Methodist in Tupelo. She was the church secretary at First Presbyterian Church of Tupelo for 34 years and loved her many friends in that congregation. Glenda loved her "Girls Beach Trips." She attempted to "get good" at Bridge with her Bridge Club girls for 40 years, but, as her sister Cherie explained "She still didn't know how to play" Her favorite pastime was following the volleyball, baseball, and soccer games of her grands, who affectionately called her MeMe. Glenda was universally loved by all with a perfect love. Her legacy will be that of a fabulous mother, a remarkable mother to Eddie Wayne's children, a soulmate and best friend to her sister, Cherie (Re Re) Harris, and a spectacular friend and encourager to thousands.
