Robert Eugene Gandy
February 21, 1934 — September 9, 2023
Indianapolis
Robert Eugene Gandy Sr. (89) died peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife of 66 years Jonell, and his family. He was blessed with four children, Bob Jr., (Lora), Monica Emanuele, (Marty), Brian, (Sharlet), Kenneth, (Anne), eight grandchildren, Alexandra, Ross, Allison, Nick, Alicia, Erin, Ryan and Isabella, and eight great-grandchildren. Bob was predeceased by his parents and his brother David Gandy.
Bob proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. As a businessman and mechanic, he owned and operated multiple service stations with his primary business being the Amoco at 46th and Shadeland. Beyond work, he was a member of many organizations including the Masons, Scottish Rite and Shrine. He was also a founding member of the Lawrence Township Community Foundation. He volunteered his time to many activities and organization that served the youth.
When not working for his family or the community, Bob loved the outdoors and travel. He travelled all over the United States, Canada, and Europe with Jonell, his wife.
Family and friends will gather for visitation on Thursday, September 14, 2023, from 4 pm – 8 pm at Flanner Buchanan- Washington Park East funeral home (10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46229). Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023, at 12 pm at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East (Community Life Center), with a visitation before the service from 11– 12 pm. Entombment will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery.
