Edmore - Walter Roy Clevenger, age 91, formerly of McBride and Swartz Creek passed into the arms of Jesus, his Lord and Savior on February 12, 2020 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Walter was born in McBride on April 4, 1928, the son of Alvin and Eunice (Daniel) Clevenger. He was raised in the Stanton area and graduated from high school there with the class of 1946. Walt served his country as part of the Army's 14th Airborne Ranger Infantry Company, during the Korean War era and was honorably discharged in 1952. He married Letha Ashbaugh on December 26, 1951 at Day Bethel Baptist Church in McBride, and spent many years together raising their family until her passing in April of 1999. Walter was employed by General Motors as a cutter-grinder for 30 years before his retirement in 1988. He was a ham radio operator and in his early years enjoyed flying his Cessna airplane and spending time with his family at their cottage.

Walter is survived by his daughters, Myra (Mark) Turk of Palmetto, FL, Deborah (Scott) Robinson of Honolulu, HI, Marian (Roger) Stockwell of Palmetto, FL and Pamela (Gordon) Beckmann of Lakeview; grandchildren, Mellissa (Matt) Stockwell, Lance Turk, Megan (Richard) Peters, Blake McMillan, Kyle (Jessica) McMillan, Daniel and John Beckmann; and his sisters, Carolene Williams, Katherene Hosner, Roselyn Packard, and Joyce Brasington.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Letha; his 8-year-old daughter, Mary Clevenger and his parents.

Funeral services for Walter will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 28, 2020 at Day Bethel Baptist Church in McBride with Pastor Chris Kaufield officiating. The family will greet friends at the church from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Thursday, February 27, 2020. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery, Six Lakes.
