Friends in this area will regret the passing of Mrs. Lacy A. Boddy formerly a resident of this village on Oct. 24th, 1960. Born in Friendship, NY, she was the daughter of Augusta J. and Clarence B. Hatch and niece of the late Judge Edward W. Hatch of Friendship, Buffalo and New York City. For many years Mrs. Boddy's mother, Mrs. Hatch, sister of the late Mrs. Phoebe Hall of Geneseo, had a Normal School student's home here on Wadsworth St. Lacy Hatch was married in Geneseo to Dr. Reinforth J. Boddy of N. Java, NY August 20, 1896. He first practiced Denistry in Arcade, NY where they both took an active interest in community affairs. Later they moved to Brooklyn, NY where they lived for many years until Dr. Boddy's death in 1921. Her later years were spent in Castile, NY and in Bennington, VT. with her daughter, Mrs. Clarice Cummings. During her years at Castile, NY she took a great interest in the history of this area; her ancestors being early settlers in Western, NY. She was a member of the Mary Jemison Chapter of the DAR; the "Francis Willard Union of the Women's Christian Temperence Union" and United Community Church of Castile, NY. Mrs. Boddy leaves 2 daughters, Mrs. Virginia Brown of 18 Elm St., Geneseo with whom she spent the last months of her life; Mrs. Clarice Cummings of 1546 Sherwood St., Clearwater, Florida; 6 granchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
