Cecil Eugene Austin Sr., 83, of Lynchburg, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006. He was the husband of Estelle Eva Hill Austin. Mr. Austin was born May 16, 1923, in Lynchburg, a son of the late John James and Maybud Phlegar Austin. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur Albert Austin and James M. Austin; a sister, Geraldine Dillard; and a son, Walter Glenn Austin. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of U.C.T., American Legion Post 16, and Fairview Christian Church, where he was a board member for 36 years, secretary of the board for 22 years, and secretary of Loyal Men's Bible Class for 25 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, a brother, five sisters, nine grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and 15 great- grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, 2006, in the Fellowship Hall of Fairview Christian Church. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17, 2006, in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
