W.H. (Humpy) Arher, 85, of Kopperl, died Thursday night, Apri 10, 2008, at his home in Kopperl surrounded by his family.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 13, 2008, at Kopperl First Baptist Church with Rev. Bean Reams and Rev. Charles Collett officiating. Interment followed in Kopperll Cemetery, with members of the Patriot Riders providing military graveside rites.
Mr. Archer was born Dec 21, 1922 in Kopperl, the son of the late Fred and Jessie Tilly Archer. He was raised and educated in Kopperl. Mr. Archer served with the U.S.Navy in World War II. He married Claudia Sue Day on June 11, 1944, in San Diego. The couple later returned to Kopperl where he ranched and farmed. Mr. Archer was a trustee of the Kopperl Volunteer Fire Department,a member and deacon of Kopperl First Baptist Church, and a member of the Kopperl Cemetery Association.
Mr. Archer is survived by: wife Claudia Sue Day Archer of Kopperl,l daughter Angela and husband Charles O'Daniel of Kopperl; daughter-in-law Katy Archer of Lakeside Village, grandchildren Kary and wife Laura Archer of Kopperl, Gale and husband Brent Chatfield of Meridian, Tammy and husband Vic Chambers of Kopperl, and Billy and wife Stephanie Archer of Waco: step-grandson Wayne and April Bishop of Kaufman; great-grandchildren D.J. Segar of Meridian, Kevin O'Daniel of Kopperl, Matt Segar of Pennsylvania, Farrah Archer of Weatherford, Kassie Archer of Kopperl, and Jordon Archer of Waco; sisters Teddy and husband Jenker Murphy of Meridian, and Lillie Ruth and husband Virgil Worlow of Mansfield; brother Tilly Archer of Meridian; 1 great-great grandchild, 10 step-great-grandchildren, 8 step-great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
