Sandra Rogers was born on September 18, 1944, in Wichita Falls, Texas to parents, Mary Lou Spivey and R.L. Spivey. She was preceded in death by her parents and second husband, Bill Burgess. She built her character on humble beginnings in Olney, Texas where she taught her good work ethic. After graduating from Olney High School, she moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas. She was married to Jim Lovett, and they had 2 sons, David and Brian.
She is survived by her soulmate and love of her life for 40 years, Steve Rogers. Sandra loved her family and was very proud of her two boys and their families: David Lovett and wife Sandy of Dallas and their children, Maya and Carlos and Brian Lovett and wife, Kathleen, and their daughters Emily and Elizabeth of St Louis. She has 2 stepsons, Jeff Rogers and wife Stacey of Dallas and John Rogers and wife Judy and their son Josh in California.
She is also survived by brother R. L Spivey and his wife Jeanie, and their children Randy Spivey and wife Clara and their children, Lane and Mason, and Susan Holland and her husband Daniel and their children Jake, Luke and Leah.
Some of Sandra's notable accomplishments include Treasurer, Prairie Creek Elementary, Treasurer for The Richardson Symphony Orchestra Guild, President of the Henderson County Board of Realtors, and active member of The Turtle Creek Association. She was a Manufacturers Rep in ladies clothing and a Realtor at Cedar Creek Lake. She loved decorating and remodeling homes and took great pride in designing and building her Cedar Creek Lake home. She and Steve were members of Whites Chapel United Methodist Church in Southlake.
Sandra was a strong woman who fearlessly battled numerous health issues, and her ability to inject wit in a situation was loved by all. She had a winning smile and sparkling personality and was in control of her own destiny. All would remark of the admiration they had for the way she lived life, the bar she set for the quality of her life, and the strength she possessed when that quality slipped below that bar.
Sandra and Steve traveled extensively since Steve's retirement in 1995. They spent fun times with family and friends on their catamaran in the British Virgin Islands. They frequently traveled with Suzie and Tog Rogers, family and friends to Europe, Alaska, Canada, Central and South America, and the Caribbean. These travels also included spending fabulous times at their home in what she affectionately called her "Happy Place:" Isla Mujeres.
Sandra lived a life that most people can only dream of living. She loved her life and always said: "My Life's Been Grand."
In lieu of flowers Sandra's desire was for you all to make a donation to the charity of your choice in her name.
